Are there any auto repair shops other than dealerships that do service that’s under warranty on Volkswagons? My check engine light is on and I would rather walk than take it back to the dealer for repairs. I live in Jacksonville, FL. Any suggestions? Thanks!
There’s a mechanic on Atlantic Blvd. toward I-95 that I pass every day on my way to and from work. They advertise service for Volkswagen (among other foreign makes), but I can’t remember for the life of me what the name of the business is. I’ll make a point to take a look in the morning when I go in.
My recommendation? Take your car to Autozone; they’ll hook up their diagnostic computer to your car and tell you exactly what’s causing your Check Engine light, and they’ll do it for free – everyplace else charges $75 or more for this simple, 30-second service! I took mine to the location in Neptune Beach.
I have to wonder, though: can you get warranty work done ANYWHERE other than an authorized dealership? I’m thinking you might not be able to . . .
